Kyoto one-day trip with the Randen free pass. (Part 1)

When you visit the Kansai area in Japan, you will find several free passes for trains.

I would love to introduce one of these tickets. Do you have a plan to stay in Kyoto? And would you like to spend some time in the Arashiyama area? If so, I recommend you to use the train called Randen. This one-day unlimited-ride pass cost only 500yen. The price for one ride of Randen is 220yen. When you ride three times, you can recover the cost. Randen sells several kinds of free passes. So, please make sure that you have the right one. Finding this 500yen pass is a little tricky. You can’t get this ticket at their ticket counter. A ticket is purchased only on the webpage of VELTRA.com.

When you purchase the ticket online, print out the voucher. You will need to take it with you to a ticket counter at the station.

Well, I purchased one and visited the Arashiyama area. Let me share my beautiful experience.

I started the day around 10 am from Shijo Omiya station.

The first stop is Kurumazaki Shrine.

The shrine is just a few steps away from the Kurumazaki Shrine station.

This shrine looks like a shrine department. There are several sub-shrines and enshrines of different Kami(deity).

The second stop is Rokuo-in Temple. The temple has a beautiful entryway. It is well-known for its Japanese garden, but unfortunately, some refurbishment is underway. The garden uses Arashiyama mountain as its background landscape, Shakkei(Borrowed scenery). If there were no scaffoldings around the Shariden (relic hall), it would have been extraordinary.
